The Apollo 17 was the last manned space mission that saw a final moonwalk in 1972, but THE LANDING encourages us to believe otherwise. Set in 1998, an extensive investigation - complete with interviews (shot in color) - lend an air of authenticity into the official proceedings. Black and white scenes are sandwiched between real space footage, sprinkled with fantasy facts to deliver a ‘rock em - sock em’ slice of science fiction about a moon landing gone unthinkably wrong.
A nightmarish faux documentary that feels all too real, thanks to the primal, eery score by Brian S. Carr and Don Hannah's Oscar-worthy performance as space cowboy Bo Cunningham. A cynical astronaut, weary - and wary - of the constant barrage of questions and scenarios, he must make it his final mission to explain why he is the lone survivor of the Apollo 18 mission that killed his fellow astronauts.
A film for space enthusiasts and conspirator theorists alike, THE LANDING is where madness, ego and conflicting reports collide with each other. Winner of five film festival awards, this fictional account raises a central question - What false narratives might the NASA really be guilty of?
