Just as I settled into my evening’s entertainment, Netflix beckoned me once again with Missing, a smart thriller that caught me by surprise. For the next 111 minutes I was treated to a rock ‘em - sock ‘em riddle of mystery, identity crisis, and more twists than Tuesday night’s corkscrew pasta.
June Allen can’t wait for her mother, Grace, to jet off on a romantic getaway with her boring bf, Kevin. After all, it’s summer and she’s got party fever, right? But mom can’t resist a few last-minute instructions that will prove to come in handy later - if only June cared enough to pay attention.
Once mom and Kevin are out of the picture, Party Time commences with her bestie, Veena. As Monday dawns on a three-day hangover, June wisely hires Taskrabbit to clean up her mess while she hustles off to collect the lovebirds at LAX.
Only they never show up. And she can’t contact mom. And Kevin switched off his geolocation finder.

Newcomer Storm Reid as June should be on everyone’s watch list, she’s that good. Missing is a clever mix of screenshots, cryptic texts, and high-tech features that only the Gen Zs & Millennials know how to access - and June, now missing her only parent, takes us on the ride of her life.
Shot in screenlife, cell phones and tablet computers serve as the camera lens, which is a perfect format to amp up the action for this unique mystery.
